Map guide to the Patios of Cordoba 2024. The six routes

The Festival de los Patios de C贸rdobaemblem of the May Holidayis one of the most important events of the year. This festival allows access to these emblematic spacesdeclared Intangible Heritage of Humanityfor eleven days as part of the Municipal Competition.

In 2024, the celebration of the Patios will take place from 2 to 12 May. This event acts as a cultural bridge in the city's festive calendar, linking the city's May Crosses with the Fair of Our Lady of Health.

It represents an exceptional opportunity to get to know the winding streets of the old town and explore the gardens hidden behind the doors of whitewashed white-walled houses, adorned with bougainvillea and pots full of geraniums and gitanillas.

This year, 63 venues will open their doors during this event, of which 52 will compete in the municipal competition in three different categories: traditional architecture, modern architecture and unique courtyards.

The three categories that define the Patios of Cordoba

  • In the category of old or traditional architecture enclosures built up to 1960 are grouped together. These must have retained the essential characteristics of their structure in any subsequent alterations.
  • The category of modern architecture includes those spaces resulting from the demolition and demolition of the new construction of an old house, which includes a courtyard, or those that have undergone alterations that exceed the criteria of the old architecture category.
  • The category of singular patios is one of the most recent additions to the competition. This category includes those courtyards belonging to religious entities, associations or congregations and which stand out for reflecting the distinctive characteristics of the official or religious architecture of the time. These are courtyards that are considered exceptional because of their monumentalitytheir unique design or their specific use. In addition, they include proposals which, in the context of the Patios Festivalare considered to be of particular interest for the competition.

In addition to the competing courtyards, 11 other institutional courtyards will remain open. which do not compete in the municipal competition.

These courtyards out of competition are not eligible for awards because they do not exhibit all of the typical characteristics of the traditional cordovan courtyardMany are not privately owned or operated as regular dwellings and are mostly owned by institutions.

During the Festival, the Patios will be open to the public from 11:00 to 14:00 in the morning, and from 18:00 to 22:00 in the evening.
